The emergence of new business systems and intelligent operating models and ecosystems has given rise to a rethink of urban mobility. Integrated modern smart systems are an innovation strategy that cities and organizations can use to increase revenue and lower costs. Combined with new architecture patterns to accelerate innovation. Smart urban mobility solutions, such as smart infrastructure, autonomous vehicles, and vehicle sharing will change the transportation landscape, reduce traffic and air pollution and increase efficiency across the layers of the transportation system.


Intelligent mobility solutions currently available in the market include Vehicle-to-Grid and smart solar charging (PV, V2G, batteries, e-cars, e-buses, indoor structure).Blockchain protocol embedded within the systems builds another layer of security and accessibility to democratize the process and adoption. Solutions for smart transit as multi-modal MaaS (Mobility-as-a-Service ) with roll-outs of WHIM in Finland and Zipster in Singapore applying location intelligence & navigation and others applying telemetry & fleet analysis. Mobility Systems Architecture Design and Spatial Data fusion add more value with GIS, BI, and Location Intelligence that revolutionize user-centric service models by factoring big-data capabilities such as visualization, analytics, archiving, event processing, map and services enrichment, and data monetization.

Integrated 3D Live Mapping from FATOS is one such example. Innovative technologies applied to Logistics exemplified by BaseTrack that create "Virtual Rails" for Intelligent ADAS and Autonomous Driving which provides driving within a road lane without visual recognition of the road marking, while reaching speeds up to 130 km/h in adverse weather conditions (rain, snow, etc.) and this is achieved by receiving a high-precision navigational connected data. This is highly applicable in long mile transportation across highways and defined tough terrains conditions; hence reaping costs benefits and deployment efficiency. Emerging technologies such as FlowX helps transport authorities react quicker to traffic incidents in network traffic management.


FlowX system extracts transport data from existing CCTV cameras leveraging on existing infrastructure and avoiding costly additional on-street hardware. With the extracted data from existing CCTV cameras to detect traffic incidents, it allows traffic operators to prevent the build-up of congestion with real-time monitoring. Tallinn city admin acquired and managed a full city scale mobile mapping input—panoramic images and 3D point cloud data and use it as an input for warranty works proof; these invoicing claims are now settled fast and correctly. Since the optimization has been done for this solution, it only costs a full Tallinn city 10,000 euros per year to cover the full road network of 1000 km in 2 weeks’ time-frame.


This is a departure from the usual Digital Twin 3D data that takes a longer time and more financial resources to produce. The Estonian cities have stepped up by using the same input datasets in various use cases—registering data management (road, cadastre, traffic, construction etc), city planning, construction planning and evaluation, traffic information visualization as an input platform. Estonia has also implemented this same solution to the entire country of 42,000 km of road networks and various sectors. This will lead to expedited private sector use usage since all the geo-spatial data will be connected through a unified platform that brings many new business opportunities for companies, startups and local authorities/administrations. In a Connecting Mobility: users are key to the success of smart mobility solutions. Transformation can soon extend to healthcare mobility.
