Reneon Technologies: Custom-built Solutions for Energy Management

Ashwin Menon,Founder and Director, Reneon TechnologiesAshwin Menon, Founder and Director
As the global community embraces sustainable energy sources, commonly known as going `green’, energy efficiency becomes the buzzword of today. Effective and efficient energy management has a positive impact on the overall cost of operations at any facility and a sound energy management strategy ensures business success on the whole. However, implementing a feasible energy monitoring strategy is easier said than done, owing to the complexities and the size of opportunities in the energy sector. IVIS, an energy monitoring & management system created by Malaysian-based Reneon Technologies, provides a quick resolution to this concern.

IVIS is an award-winning, cloud-based energy management platform which identifies energy wastage and inefficient usage of energy equipment in small and medium-sized buildings. This amazing yet simple piece of technology is achieved by combining easy-to-integrate hardware, power and water sensors, autonomous smart control, and comes with a cloud-based energy analytics platform.

The team at Reneon Technologies follows a simple methodology, involving a three-stage process that is applied to every client. The energy usage pattern of an organization is first analyzed which then provides a baseline reference point of the energy consumed. This is followed by the company working in tandem with the client to create a tailored energy monitoring solution. “We find out the kind of standard operating procedure our clients are following and then we introduce technologies that will not only maximize their savings but also provide a cost-effective solution to save energy,” says Ashwin Menon, founder and director of Reneon Technologies.
In one instance, a client wanted to monitor the energy usage across different locations. As opposed to complex and cumbersome cabling, Reneon deployed LoRa-based wireless technology, which enabled the client to monitor energy consumption across locations in a cost-effective manner. “We understand that different customers in diverse industries have varied needs, and as such customizability and our core focus on quality are our key incentives”, says Ashwin.

Another client of Reneon who has an office tower wanted a holistic solution to enable them to reduce their overall energy consumption. Reneon Technologies deployed an energy monitoring & control system which not only allows the client to monitor their power utilization in real time but also to take proactive & preventive actions to reduce their consumption. The client and their staff were also provided a training session to empower them on the key Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) that could be implemented with the insights derived from IVIS. The client benefited greatly from this as they were able to identify key areas of energy wastages, which had eluded them previously and the expected savings from this exercise was as high as 30 percent of their overall energy cost.

We understand that different customers in diverse industries have varied needs, and as such customizability and our core focus on quality are our key incentives

The company also takes into account the fact that in many organizations, there might not be technically sound individuals who can analyze the data to its full potential. The team at Reneon Technologies uses data analytics to process the data and presents it in a manner that even a user with very little technical knowledge can understand and take the necessary steps toward reducing energy consumption and improving efficiency.

After delivering the solution, Reneon Technologies does not consider their job done. They offer post-implementation support that many of their contemporaries don’t and this hand-holding approach helps their clients maximize the potential of their energy systems.

Reneon Technologies is planning on expanding their product portfolio with energy efficiency being an integral part. The clients will not only get vital analytics and data from the company’s monitoring system but also an end-to-end solution that can help boost the overall energy efficiency effort. The company plans to continuously roll out innovative solutions that will help augment their energy management solution while enhancing the overall package that they provide to their clients.
